You Got Mail!

If you know me, you don't check my mail. My sister in law asked me how I was going to get my snake since I was purchasing it through a breeder. Well she might not fly in an airplane again after talking to me. I told her they were going to ship her to me on a plane. She didn't believe me. I told her "Snakes on a Plane" was based on a true story!

Maybe that was a stretch! However they did mail my snake Federal Express on a plane...

Maybe it was a mail order bride order gone completely wrong. I meant to order younger, Australian, exotic, beautiful female well that's what I got!

I got her enclosure ready. I bought more stuff that wouldn't fit in her enclosure.

I know I will have to get her something bigger when she grows.

Funny story time, I opened the box and saw shredded newspaper so I assumed my new pet was loose in the box. I wasn't gonna reach in and grab her. Have the snake for 10 minutes and get bit. Nope not me. So, I set the box open and text the breeder. He laughed and told me she was in a cloth bag.

Well I opened the bag! She wasn't in a hurry to get out of the bag.  Hours later I gently dumped her out of the bag, She ended up being quite the climber.

Here she is exploring her new home! My little Jungle Carpet Python!

Welcome to my New Blog

I got a new pet so I decided to start a new blog. I'm going through things in my personal life. I guess with that there are changes and new starts. This is one of them. Perhaps this is my midlife crisis. I always thought my midlife crisis would be a younger woman, a fancy sports car or whatever the trend might be.
Well I'm unique and different I guess.

I know snakes aren't for everybody. My sister and law has a big phobia of them and can't even look at pictures of them. However, there might be enough about life to make this blog interesting. Maybe this blog will get you to look at snakes differently. Well I'm not scared of snakes in the wild but I must confess I get a little nervous sticking my hand in it's enclosure.

How did I get to this point? Probably goes back to my days as a kid living in Florida the first time. Florida was a lot wilder then and I made friends with plenty of alligators and snakes. I listened to Ross Allen and got to see his shows at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. I guess a bit of that stuck with me.

Anyway I slowly caught the bug on the interweb. Grown man cubs shouldn't be able to surf the web without adult supervision. I first bid on this auction for an environmental charity and I was winning for a while. I was bidding for a gift certificate. I thought with the certificate I was going to be able to purchase a Carpet Python. I underestimated the costs of these beasts. Finally, I was outbid and off the hook.

Well. I found another snake. A pretty pink morphed Ball Python. Would have been perfect. Pretty snake. A reputation of not being a biter like the Carpet Python.  I tried. It turned out to be a scam. I almost lost money. After that close call, I was like the guy in the auction is legit. Well I raised my bid and I won!

It wasn't this anaconda!
